Edine Tiemersma is a senior epidemiologist with over 20 years of experience in epidemiology. She was trained as a biologist with special interest in epidemiology and parasitology. Before joining KNCV in 2008, she has conducted projects on malaria, schistosomiasis, colorectal cancer, and antimicrobial resistance.
At KNCV, she provides technical assistance and builds capacity for epidemiological and operational research mainly in Asian countries. She was involved in the training of foreign PhD students, and provides classroom and on-the-job training in operational epidemiological research. She has experience in the conduct and analysis of tuberculosis prevalence surveys, epidemiology of drug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and operational research projects, and has conducted systematic reviews. She is currently mainly supporting KNCV’s work in Indonesia and Vietnam.
