Mauro Venegoni, MD, is Consultant of the Pharmacology and Pharmacoepidemiology Institute of the University of Verona, Italy, since September 2016.

He was graduated in Medicine (Milan, Italy, 1971), specialized in Internal Medicine (Milan, 1976), Allergology and Clinical Immunology (Milan, 1980),  and took a Diploma in Epidemiology and Biostatistics (McGill University, Montreal, CA, 1995).

His career developed maily as Hospital doctor for more than 30 years (since 1974 to 2005) in Internal Medicine Departments: since 1997 as Head of a Medicine Department, Fatebenefratelli Hospital, Milan.

Since 1989 was involved in research and activity in Pharmacovigilance and Pharmacoepidemiology:  Scientific Director of Regional Centre of Pharmacovigilance of Lombardy from 2000 to 2005, in late 2005 was called at the Italian Medicine Agency (AIFA) as Head of Pharmacovigilance Unit until June 2009 .

From 2010 until 2015 was consultant of the Pharmacovigilance regional Centre of Lombardy, Milan.

Since March 2008 to December 2009 was the Italian delegate at the CHMP-Pharmacovigilance Working Party, European Medicine Agency (EMA), and in 2009 was the Italian delegate in the Technic Committee on the new legislation on Pharmacovigilance in Brussels.

He is expert for the signal detection of the WHO-Uppsala Monitoring Centre

He works as a volunteer in a surgery for migrants (San Paolo Hospital, Milan)

He is author of more than 100 publications.

He read and speaks with proficiency   Italian (mother tongue), English, French, Spanish and German (basic).

 

Married with Umberta, has two sons and two grandsons.
